WHERE FROM? WHERE NOW? - Mapping Samuel Beckett

Beckett and THE FRENCH

Wednesday 3rd February 2010, 7.30pm

Bookshop Theatre & The Godot Company
at the Cockpit Theatre

The journey continues with The company's exploration of  Beckett and the French: Rabelais, Racine, Rimbaud, Proust.....

Sourced from notebooks kept by Beckett's students at Trinity College, Dublin, material from the Beckett archive, Beckett's own notes and the repertoire of the company themselves, this selection of readings and biographical insight promises to stir your sense of humour as well as your intellect. Come and worship with us at the temple of delight and the shrine of melancholy as we stumble blindly - but brilliantly -  onward.

This series of nine monthly evening readings explores the work of Beckett in relation to Europe's history of ideas reflected in the landmarks of its literary landscape before asking where the influence of Beckett's work can be found in contemporary literary thought.

As usual a full and frank discussion will follow the performance.

Script by Virginia Byron; staging by everyone.
